Caramel Apple Cinnamon Roll Bake: Easy Weekend Brunch

  • Author: Eden
  • Total Time: 60-65 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

A lazy weekend brunch favorite that combines the flavors of gooey cinnamon rolls and apple pie. This easy bake uses refrigerated dough, fresh apples, and caramel sauce for a sweet, comforting dish that requires zero kneading and minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz / 450g) refrigerated cinnamon rolls
  • 3 medium apples (about 1 lb / 450g), peeled and diced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 jar (12 oz / 340g) caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 23 tablespoons (30-45ml) milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ cup (60g) chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish generously with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Peel and dice apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss half of the melted butter with the apples in a large bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the remaining melted butter with granulated sugar and cinnamon until it resembles wet sand.
  4. Cut each canned cinnamon roll into quarters (or eighths). Arrange pieces in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle diced apples evenly over the dough pieces. Drizzle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over everything, ensuring apples are coated.
  6. Mix caramel sauce with heavy cream until smooth. Drizzle generously over the dish. Sprinkle with pecans if using.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is bubbly, golden brown, and dough is cooked through. Cover loosely with foil if browning too quickly.
  8. While the bake cools for 5 minutes, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
  9. Drizzle glaze over the warm bake and serve immediately.

Notes

Caramel is sticky, so ensure the pan is well-greased. Let the bake cool for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the caramel to thicken. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months. For a less sweet version, reduce caramel or skip the glaze.
