Description
A homemade version of the popular Starbucks drink using strong brewed coffee, real brown sugar, and oat milk, shaken by hand for a frothy, caramel-like treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (480ml) strong brewed dark roast coffee
- 2 tablespoons (30g) brown sugar
- 1 cup (240ml) oat milk
- 1 cup (150g) ice cubes
- ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Brew a strong cup of coffee using twice the normal amount of grounds. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
- Pour the warm coffee into a 16-ounce mason jar. Add the brown sugar and vanilla extract.
- Stir vigorously with a spoon until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
- Pour in the oat milk and add the ice cubes, filling the jar about three-quarters full.
- Secure the lid tightly and shake the jar hard for 30 seconds to create froth.
- Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use strong dark roast coffee to prevent the drink from tasting watery. Ensure the brown sugar is fully dissolved before shaking. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds to create the signature froth. Cold oat milk froths better than room temperature milk. Do not freeze the mixed drink as the milk will separate; freeze the coffee base instead.
