Description
A quick, 5-minute homemade iced coffee featuring a rich brown sugar cinnamon syrup, offering a cozy, dessert-like flavor without the need for fancy equipment or expensive cafe runs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups strong brewed coffee (dark roast recommended)
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons water (for syrup)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup milk of choice (oat, almond, or dairy)
- Ice cubes
- Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of water, and ground cinnamon.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk or fork, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture forms a thick, amber-colored syrup (about 1-2 minutes).
- Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool for about 1 minute.
- Fill a tall glass to the top with ice cubes.
- Pour the strong brewed coffee over the ice, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
- Add the warm brown sugar cinnamon syrup to the coffee and stir gently.
- Add the milk, pouring slowly down the side of the glass for a layered effect or mixing it in.
- Stir well with a long spoon or straw to distribute the flavors evenly.
- Top with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon if desired, then serve immediately.
Notes
For a less acidic option, use cold brew concentrate. To prevent dilution, freeze leftover coffee into ice cubes. The brown sugar cinnamon syrup can be made in batches and stored in the fridge for up to two weeks. If the syrup turns grainy, ensure you stir constantly while heating to fully dissolve the sugar.
