Description
An effortless, no-cook fall charcuterie board featuring aged cheddar, honeycomb figs, cured meats, and toasted nuts. Perfect for autumn gatherings, this recipe focuses on texture, color, and balanced flavors without requiring any cooking skills.
Ingredients
- 8 oz Aged Cheddar (sharp or extra-sharp), sliced or cubed
- 8 oz Soft Cheese (Brie or Smoked Gouda), sliced
- 6–8 oz Cured Meats (Prosciutto, Salami, or Chorizo)
- 1 small jar or piece Honeycomb Figs (or fig jam with honey drizzle)
- 1/2 cup Pecans or Walnuts, toasted
- 1 large box Crackers (Water crackers, Wheat Thins, or Almond crackers)
- 2 Apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), sliced
- 1 cup Grapes (red or green)
- 1/2 cup Olives (Kalamata, optional)
- 1/2 cup Dried Fruit (Apricots or Cranberries, optional)
- Whole grain mustard or Honey (for dipping)
- Lemon juice (for tossing apples)
- Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Prep ingredients: Slice apples and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Cube or slice the cheddar. Slice the brie or gouda. Open the cured meats. Toast pecans or walnuts in a dry pan for 3 minutes until fragrant. Set out small bowls for condiments.
- Place cheeses on the board in odd numbers (3-4 types). Scatter them around rather than lining them up. Leave brie whole or halved; create small piles or stacks of cheddar for height.
- Add meats by folding prosciutto into rosettes or folding salami into quarters. Tuck meat piles next to the cheeses to indicate pairings.
- Fill gaps with apple slices and grapes, overlapping them for color. Scatter toasted nuts generously across the board to add texture.
- Stand crackers up, fanning them out or leaning them against cheese piles to create verticality. Place different types of crackers in different areas.
- Add finishing touches: Place honeycomb figs on the board or in a small bowl with fig jam and honey drizzle. Add bowls of olives or mustard. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs.
- Serve immediately or let cheese come to room temperature for 1-2 hours before serving for best flavor.
Notes
[‘Cheese and meats taste best at room temperature; remove from fridge 1-2 hours before serving.’, ‘Toast nuts to release oils and enhance flavor.’, ‘Use odd numbers for visual appeal (e.g., 3 cheeses, 5 crackers).’, ‘Do not overcrowd the board; leave space for guests to serve themselves.’, ‘If prepping early, keep perishable items in the fridge until 1-2 hours before serving.’, ‘Leftover cheese can be stored in wax paper in the fridge for up to 5 days.’]
