Description
A sophisticated, light, and bubbly cocktail that tastes like autumn in a glass. This fall spiced pear prosecco spritz with ginger syrup comes together in minutes and is perfect for hosting or unwinding.
Ingredients
- 1 inch piece fresh ginger root (about 15g)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
- ½ cup water (120ml)
- 2 cups pear nectar or pear juice (480ml)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3–4 whole cloves
- 1 bottle Prosecco (750ml), preferably Brut or Extra Dry
- 1 bottle Soda Water (750ml)
- Ice (large cubes preferred)
- Thin pear slices for garnish
- Fresh ginger coins for garnish
- Sprig of rosemary or thyme for garnish
- 1.5 ounces Vodka or Gin (optional, for stronger cocktail)
Instructions
- Peel and finely grate or slice the fresh ginger root.
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, grated ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves. Stir until sugar is mostly dissolved.
- Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Do not boil vigorously.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat and let steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain out the ginger and spices. Let the syrup cool completely (or chill in fridge for 30 minutes).
- Slice pears into thin slices (1/8 inch) and prepare ginger coins and herb sprigs for garnish.
- Fill glasses with ice.
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of cooled ginger syrup to each glass. Add vodka or gin if desired.
- Add pear slices to the glass; muddle lightly if you want more flavor.
- Top with Prosecco, leaving a little room at the top.
- Top with a splash of soda water.
- Stir gently to combine while preserving bubbles.
- Garnish with a pear slice, ginger coin, and herb sprig. Serve immediately.
Notes
Make the ginger syrup ahead of time for faster assembly; it keeps in the fridge for up to two weeks. Ensure all ingredients are cold before mixing to keep the drink chilled without dilution. If the drink is too sweet, add more soda water or a squeeze of lemon juice. If too spicy, use less ginger next time or add more sugar. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Prosecco with sparkling water or non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
