Description
Chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookies stuffed with a warm, creamy Nutella center. These easy-to-make treats offer a bakery-quality experience with a simple assembly technique.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (200g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup Nutella (smooth consistency)
- 1 ½ cups (250g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet and milk mix)
- Flaky sea salt (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a stand mixer or bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium-high for 3-4 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips by hand.
- Portion dough into 1.5-2 tablespoon balls.
- Flatten each dough ball into a disc, place 1 teaspoon of Nutella in the center, and fold edges over to seal. Roll into a smooth ball.
- Place stuffed cookies on prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Chill dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or freeze for up to 3 months).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown but centers look slightly soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt immediately after baking if desired.
Notes
Chilling the dough is crucial to prevent the Nutella from leaking out during baking. If in a rush, freeze the dough balls for 15 minutes. Rotate pans halfway through baking for even browning. Underbake slightly for a chewy texture. Cookies can be frozen raw for up to 3 months; bake straight from frozen adding 1-2 minutes to bake time.
