Description
A refreshing, alcohol-free summer drink made with muddled blackberries, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and sparkling water. It’s easy to make, visually stunning, and perfect for parties.
Ingredients
- 2 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from 4–6 limes)
- 1/4 cup simple syrup (or honey/agave)
- 4 cups sparkling water (club soda or seltzer)
- Lime wheels (for garnish)
- Mint leaves (optional)
- Ice (large cubes preferred)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional, for flavor enhancement)
Instructions
- Place blackberries in the bottom of a large pitcher. Muddle them with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release juices and color, but avoid turning them into pulp.
- Pour in the fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Whisk vigorously to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.
- Slowly top the mixture with sparkling water, pouring down the side of the pitcher to preserve carbonation.
- Add a large scoop of ice and stir gently.
- Pour into glasses filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with lime wheels and mint sprigs if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
[‘Use cold ingredients to keep the drink chilled longer.’, ‘Do not use bottled lime juice; fresh juice is essential for bright flavor.’, ‘If using frozen berries, no need to thaw; muddle directly from the bag.’, ‘Add a tiny pinch of sea salt to enhance sweetness and lime flavor.’, ‘Store the base mixture (berries, lime, syrup) in the fridge for up to 2 days. Add sparkling water just before serving to prevent it from going flat.’, ‘For a less sweet version, reduce the simple syrup or use unsweetened sparkling water.’]
