Description
A creamy, no-cook breakfast made with old-fashioned oats, chia seeds, and vanilla that requires only 5 minutes of prep time. Perfect for meal prep and busy mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (90g)
- 3 tablespoons chia seeds (30g)
- 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk (360ml)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (5ml)
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup (15-30g)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen berries (150g)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In each of four jars, add ¼ cup of old-fashioned oats and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds.
- Pour ⅜ cup of milk into each jar, followed by ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon of maple syrup, and a tiny pinch of salt.
- Whisk the mixture vigorously with a fork or small whisk to break up chia seed clumps and ensure even distribution.
- Let the jars sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes to allow chia seeds to start absorbing liquid.
- Stir the mixture one more time, cover with lids, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight (8-12 hours).
- In the morning, give the oats a final stir. Top with fresh or thawed frozen berries and serve.
Notes
Do not use instant or steel-cut oats as they will not soften properly overnight. Whisk chia seeds thoroughly to prevent clumping. Frozen berries create a natural syrup as they thaw. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Do not freeze as texture may become weird.
